The Helmet Harbor has been selling quality merchandise online since 1999. Over the years we have grown into one of the top online retailers in the country. What makes us different than other companies doing business over the Internet?

We're most proud of this statistic because it shows that we've succeeded in doing our job. Not just from a customer service point of view, but from a fair price perspective as well. We believe there is more than just one element that goes into making a customer happy.

Some companies do a great job of selling product, but we understand that there's more to a sale, than just SELLING. Our staff actually uses the products we sell. It goes deeper than reading a catalog, or simply trying on products in the store. We make it a point to get out on the road and USE them as they were intended. This isn't by any means cheap.
While we do sell many of our demonstration items, selling used product doesn't help keep the lights on... As you will see throughout the site, we use pictures of OURSELVES using, demonstrating, and breaking many of the items we sell. Nothing beats "Real World" use.
We're always looking for new avenues to narrow the gap between our Customers and our Staff. If you look around online, you'll find a ton of companies who open up shop, put in the manufacturers information, then walk away. Why is this? Well, it takes time and effort to go any further. Is it that they don't have the ability? Not at all, it simply comes down to "wanting" to make that extra step..

While nothing takes the place of talking to someone in person, we thought using video would help our customers have the next best thing. While you can write about something to your fingers are sore, a video allows us to put the product in front of you, and talk freely. While a picture is worth a 1000 words, a video is worth ten times that. Our goal is to be the leader in this approach, and stay ahead of those that attempt to copy us in the future. Our videos may not be up to Hollywood quality, but we try our best. We know as time goes on, their quality will improve. The focus here isn't on glamour, but content.
EVALUATIONS:
We strongly believe that if you sell a product, you owe it to your customers to point out its strengths and weaknesses. Our approach is to test as many products as we can, and give honest feedback on our impressions. Many manufacturers have frowned on our approach, and often their products never make it to sale on our site. If there is a down-side, we want our customers to know about it.
- We're not afraid of spending time on the phone with our customers.
Whether the call is 2 minutes or 20 minutes, we understand that our customers have questions, and we want them answered as much as they do. This is one of the reasons we feel we have such a low return rate.
Some companies can't wait to expand. We, on the other hand, have decided to take our time. Growth will come with an ever increasing base of SATISFIED customers. This belief has allowed us to rise into one of the top 3 retailers in the country in many product lines. We are just real people, who really care. It's that simple.
