Fieldsheer has been on the cutting edge of motorcycle gear for for a while and they know how to build a great jacket with a lot of features. And the best part is they offer great products with more features than most of the higher-priced competitors.
The Fieldsheer Johnny Cool is marketed as a summer jacket, but we feel this is somewhat misleading. We think the Johnny cool is a great summer jacket, but we also think it would make a great choice for much colder riding conditions than the name implies.
Right off the hanger, Fieldsheer's Johnny Cool Mesh jacket is ready for cool weather riding. The jacket comes standard with a full-sleeve, removable, water-resistant, warm quilted liner. It is not the typical liner most companies include...This liner is NICE! It is so nice that it can be worn by itself and it will look good even off the bike. It even has an nicely embroidered logo on it. The liner is very warm and plush. The feature that impressed us the most was the liner's wrist cuffs. They are more comfortable than any other jacket we have tested and they stop any wind from entering the sleeves. We were very impressed and think other companies should take notes.
With the liner installed, we don't see any reason the Johnny Cool wouldn't work as an all season jacket. Perhaps we'd want something different if riding for extended periods of time in sub-30 degree weather, but most of our riding doesn't happen in the snow.
Remove the high-quality liner and the summer performance is as good or better than any other mesh jacket. The outershell of the jacket is completely ballistic mesh so air has an unrestricted pathway to cool the rider. Our testers conducted the evaluation at 100 degrees and the jacket kept the them protected and as comfortable as could be expected in 100+ temperatures.
The sleeves are pre-curved to the natural riding position and that makes the jacket feel very natural.
Fieldsheer has provided some of the best armor in the business for as long as we can remember. Other companies are still playing catch-up to meet the standards Fieldsheer has provided for years. Some manufacturers offer "wimpy summer" gear, yet we feel completely protected in the Johnny Cool Mesh Jacket.
Other notable features include an arsenal of pockets, Velcro closures, SP memory foam, reflective safety material and an 8" waist zip and snap belt connectors.
The Johnny Cool Mesh jacket is one of our favorite products. It offers a ton of value and features compared to many of the top brands being sold today. Fieldsheer is often overshadowed by brands like Joe Rocket and Icon, but we feel that this jacket does more for less money and provides just as much quality if not more. If you want a quality multi-season jacket, the Fieldsheer Johnny cool is the jacket for you.
