Firstgear makes high-quality riding gear and the Mesh-Tex 3.0 is a prime example. The Firstgear Mesh-Tex 3.0 is a high-quality mesh summer jacket that works very well in extreme heat. The Mesh-Tex series of jackets have won many awards including “Best Mesh Jacket”.
The Mesh-Tex 3.0 features a 100% poly-mesh shell which allows air to freely flow thru the jacket keeping the rider cool in the hottest conditions. Our testers evaluated the Mesh-Tex 3.0 in the Arizona desert and it performed well. The jacket is best suited for hot weather, but with the liner installed you can expect to ride in moderately cool weather.
As mentioned, Mesh-Tex 3.0 also comes standard with a full-sleeved windproof liner. The liner provides good wind protection and will allow the rider to get thru an occasional rain shower without getting soaked. Keep in mind the liner is not insulated, so this might not be the best choice for temperatures below 60 degrees or so.
The Mesh-Tex 3.0 now features CE rated armor in the shoulders and elbows. It also comes with a foam back pad for extra protection. All armor in the jacket can be removed for easy washing.
The Firstgear Mesh-Tex 3.0 is a popular jacket and does well for 2 main reasons. First off, the quality of the jacket is very good. Quality seam-stitching, heavy-duty zippers, strong Velcro adjusters etc. And the second reason is that the jacket features a “low-key” appearance. A lot of jackets these days are marketed towards the younger rider and some styles can be a little over the top for some tastes. The Mesh-Tex 3.0 features classic styling which is more popular with the 25 and older segment.
We like the Firstgear Mesh-Tex 3.0. The quality is good and we like the styling of this jacket. It does what it was designed to do, and it does it well.
