It's not often that we post "crash tested" stories on our site, but there's always a first.
A customer, and former Police Officer came into the store to replace his Scorpion EXO-200 helmet. Handing it to me, I could tell it had been involved in a very bad accident. Of course I asked how it happened. Here is the letter he sent to Scorpion, thanking them for saving his life.
"Dear sirs,
I am writing this in regards to “first” hand knowledge of your ¾ helmet I own. I was involved in a serious accident!
On may 6th 08 in Las Vegas, Nevada myself and a group of 15 to 17 other bikes owned and operated by retired/active members of the Law Enforcement motorcycle club known as the Blue Knights, was enroute to escort the Tazer Foundations Hummer vehicle, which was going from VanCouver B.C. to DC for Law Week. We had left our Hotel, riding staggered, exiting one Interstate on an on ramp, to another. My bike (03 HD ultra classic) slid out due to an oil spill in the roadway, which extended over a ¼ mile in both directions. I was wearing your Helmet and other protective gear such as boots, gloves, vest, jeans shirt. According to witnesses (I don’t remember due to a concussion) that both my bike slid and I, flipped and crashed into a concrete retaining wall hitting my back, shoulders and “HEAD” areas. The bike continued past me quite a distance.
Please understand that this accident was unavoidable according to my friends, since another member of our group also went down while he was in the process of slowing down to avoid my crash. The oil was recently dumped, and with the rain grooved concrete surface, which by itself was worn down and rubber filled, it was impossible to stay upright once you were in it…….
I was conscious after the impact into the concrete retaining wall. First aid was administered by my friends and an ambulance arrived shortly, which transported me (still with helmet on) to a local hospital where I underwent many tests. I was placed in a neck brace and advised I had a fracture to the area behind the 6/7 vertabrae, broken collar bone, and numerous abraisions!
As I said, I don’t remember any of the accident due to the concussion, and have only found out the circumstances from speaking with those involved.

My reason for writing you is to say THANKS for making a quality product. EVERYONE there, who are Law Enforcement personel active/retired, ALL agree that if I wasn’t wearing that helmet they would have been planning a funeral!!!!!!
My helmet suffered extensive damage, of which I took some pictures, and will try to attach them to this e-mail for you to see. If they don’t come thru let me know and I will try again.
I am in the process of recoverey. When the bike is repaired, and I am up to it, I will be looking to purchase another one of your helmets to replace the trashed one.
Again thank you for saving my life…….."
