PATENTED SNC® CONSTRUCTION: SNC "Structural Net Composite" is Arai's newest and most advanced shell construction. It incorporates a structural net reinforcing material embedded between Arai's exclusive Super Complex Laminate Construction layers. The specially-developed strands bond the layers more rigidly to further improve shell integrity and impact-force management. SNC also allows for more weight to be removed from the top of the shell, reducing overall helmet weight by almost three ounces (RX-7 Corsair vs. previous RX-7 models) while it lowers the center of gravity, resulting in better balance and reduced fatigue for more comfort.

ENHANCED "ORGANIC" SHELL SHAPE has a more natural appearance, seals better, and conforms more to the head's natural shape for improved comfort, fit, and to help minimize wind turbulence.

INNOVATIVE DRY-COOL® LINING MATERIAL: The Dry-Cool® liner actually utilizes micro water cells to improve moisture and heat transfer from your head into the airflow around Arai's exclusive Space Frame Liner. Leaves your head dryer and cooler (hence the name) at the end of a long or hot ride. Dry-Cool also allows the liner to dry much faster between rides.

TYPE 8 DIFFUSER: Features redesigned and improved intake and exhaust ports to both improve airflow and reduce wind turbulence. Also has larger 10mm diffuser holes (increased from 7.8mm on previous RX-7) to move even more air.

PATENTED DUAL-PIVOT® CHIN VENT: Two-position dual-pivot hinge mechanism allows for increased airflow capacity to two areas. The first vent position directs air directly to face, through a carbon filter; the second position directs air to shield for de-fogging.

BREATH GUARD DESIGN works in conjunction with the Dual-Pivot Chin Vent to better direct fresh air to the inside surface of the shield while at the same time directing hot breath down and away from the inside surface of the shield.

SAJ-MODEL SIDE PODS have a slimmer profile and more closely match the shape of the shell to provide a much cleaner, aerodynamic look and function.

FULLY-REMOVABLE, WASHABLE LINER and PULL-DOWN AIR SPOILER.

  • Relaxed round-oval fit
  • "Delta-3" top center intake scoop, scavenges more air to help improve airflow even further
  • Shell incorporates a reduced gap between the shield and shell to minimize wind turbulence over the shield and onto the shell
  • Chin vent design, with dual-pivot hinge mechanism, allows for a more easily operable single span vent gate with an increased airflow capacity
  • Enhanced organic shell shape, bottom trim and (non-removable) neck roll which curve in at the bottom to give a more natural appearance, which also helps minimize wind turbulence
  • Rubber breath-guard, designed to better direct fresh air to the inside surface of the shield while at the same time directing hot breath down and away from the inside surface of the shield
  • SNC "Structural Net Composite" shell construction, utilizes a patented shell construction that incorporates a structural net reinforcing material, embedded between Arai's® exclusive Super complex laminated construction layers, which improves resistance to shearing forces. This allows for more weight to be removed from the top of the shell, both reducing overall helmet weight and improving the center of gravity
  • Shell mold features to strengthen the shell, enhance airflow and overall appearance
  • Type-8 diffuser design with redesigned and improved intake and exhaust ports to both improve airflow and reduce wind turbulence
  • "Dry-CoolTM" liner material, with a rich color and perforated satin feel, utilizes water cells to improve moisture and heat transfer from your head into the airflow around Arai's® unique space frame liner. Leaves your head dryer and cooler at the end of a long or hot ride and allows the liner to dry much faster in between rides. Dimensions and mounting method of both the cheek pads and head liner are the same as previous RX-7RR series. Removable liner/cheek pads.
  • SAJ side pods have a lower profile and are much more flush with the shell of the helmet to provide a much cleaner look
  • Meets or exceeds Snell and D.O.T. standards

This logo on your dealer’s site means that you are entitled to

*A NO-HASSLE,  NO-FEE HELMET EXCHANGE
IF THERE IS A SIZE OR FIT PROBLEM WITH YOUR INITIAL PURCHASE.

If, after receiving your helmet and test-fitting it in your home (never having removed the tags, shield film or actually using it for a test ride) you can return it to the place of purchase, within 3 business days after receipt, for an exchange to either another Arai size and/or model.

The helmet must be in absolutely brand new condition, returned in the original box with all the original paperwork and packing.

The cost difference, should there be any depending on model and/or design change, will either be refunded (in the case of a less expensive replacement) or charged (in the case of a more expensive replacement) to your credit card.  You must confirm with the place of purchase prior to the return, as to what that difference in costs might be and approve it, as well as to make the arrangements for the authorized return.

Note that the dealer has final say as to the condition of the returned helmet, as well as any and all charges relating to damage, missing parts and/or cost differences in the case of an exchange.  Arai has nothing to do with the purchase process, other than requiring the one free return for exchange.

Any returns for another brand, or for a refund are not covered under this policy and will be charged for according to the policies of the selling dealer.  Therefore, it is up to you as the customer to understand all sales and return policies of the selling dealer prior to making your purchase.

Thank you very much for considering Arai for your next helmet purchase.  We hope we have provided some useful information and hope you apply it, even if you choose another brand.  After all, aren’t you worth a little extra consideration?

What is Arai

20 years ago, there was a big difference in helmets, so it was much easier to separate the good from the bad. Today, although more helmets look the same, there can still be a major difference between them. For example, people look basically the same on the outside. But this tells us nothing about the person on the inside. It's the same with helmets. They're all round, hard and shiny. And most carry many of the same certification standards that have now become the only way for many to judge a helmet's worth. However, even though these helmets may carry the same decals certifying that they passed the minimum criteria for a given standard, it doesn't tell you anything about what's inside. The fit, the comfort. The quality. But Arai is different. Arai designs the best helmet we can for comfort, fit, and a host of other criteria. Then we submit it for safety standards acceptance (which we pass with room to spare). In other words, Arai designs its helmets first for you, the rider — and second to pass a standards test. Some helmet companies have their priorities wrong and do it the other way around.

A HISTORY OF INNOVATION: Over 50 years devoted solely to the advancement and innovation of helmet design and safety. Because of our many design innovations, Arai helmets have actually been exhibited in art museums.

FAMILY PRIDE: Mr. Hirotake Arai, a hat maker by trade, started his company over 65 years ago. He was a craftsman, a perfectionist - and a motorcycle rider. Today, his son Michio "Mitch" Arai, another lifelong rider, runs the company. And Mitch's son, Akihito, is now the third generation. If your family name was on your product, how well would you make it?

HANDMADE: Every Arai helmet is virtually 100% handmade. Each craftsman signs the helmet shell along the way. And every helmet is hand inspected at least three times during construction. Not every hundredth helmet, or every tenth one — every single helmet.

THE PURE PURSUIT OF QUALITY: The only helmet company we know of with a single quality standard for all its helmets. No "special one-off" helmets for our A-list racers. Every Arai built for every rider has the same singular devotion to quality, comfort, and fit. (In the words of "Mitch" Arai,: "How can you say one person's head is worth more than another's?")

UNMATCHED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION: American riders have ranked Arai Helmets Number One in customer satisfaction in all seven J.D. Power and Associates Motorcycle Helmet Satisfaction Studies! Seven years in a row, no other helmet company has ranked higher than Arai.

UNMATCHED REPUTATION: Arai isn't only the choice of countless motorcycle champions and racers — including all four U.S. MotoGP riders. Arai auto-racing helmets dominate the F1 grid, chosen by new champion, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen in second, and four of the top five drivers ... Sebastien Bourdais, winner of the last two ChampCar championships ... IRL Indy cars' Tony Kanaan and Dario Franchitti among others ... And NASCAR® heroes like Jeff Gordon, Jeff Burton, Mark Martin, Greg Biffle, and Jamie McMurray. Quite an accomplishment for such a small company. There must be a reason.

THE BEST WARRANTY: The first helmet company to offer a full 5-Year Limited Warranty — 12 years ago! Only recently have a couple others extended their warranties past one year. (How many cheaper helmets can a typical rider go through in the lifespan of one 5-year warranted Arai?)

Our Evaluation • Arai RX-7 Corsair Racing Red

“Arai's primary goal is not to be the world's biggest helmet company, but the world's best. That is more important to us than chasing sales volume.” This quote from Arai’s website sums up Arai’s dedication to making some of the best helmets in the world. The flagship model in the Arai line is the RX7 Corsair. It is the same helmet worn by MotoGP World Champion, Nicky Hayden and many other top-level racers. The RX-7 Corsair represents the best the Arai has to offer.

The first thing you’ll notice about the RX-7 Corsair is the attention to detail in the paint. It seems simple, but a few company’s are still lacking in overall paint quality. The graphic and replica models are beautiful!

The Corsair is also very lightweight.  Our scales show a size Medium weighing 3lbs 6.6oz.  That puts the Corsair in the top 25% in terms of lightweight helmets.  Consult the Helmet Harbor Weight Chart to see exactly where the RX7 Corsair compares to other models.

The next thing you’ll notice is the way the Corsair feels once you put it on. It feels great!  The internal padding is second to none. The inner liner is completely removable which makes cleaning and custom fitting easy. The Arai RX7 Corsair offers a plethora of size and fitting options with their optional padding kits. It allows the rider to truly get the perfect fit.

The fit of the RX7 is described as “intermediate oval”. The helmet is a little shorter front-to-back and a little wider side-to-side as compared to the Long Oval. The Corsair begins the shift from oblong towards round. The RX7 runs true to size according to Arai’s sizing chart in our experience.

When it comes to ventilation, the RX7 is one of the best. The RX7 was designed mainly as a race helmet and that means really good ventilation. Air enters all three frontal vents and it is exhausted via the rear exhaust vents. The center vent is controllable by the rider and is easy to operate while wearing gloves. The 2 side vents are always in the open position which means cold air will be entering the helmet during cold weather. Tip: Use tape to cover the vents during winter riding.

The RX7 Corsair receives glowing reviews from our testers. Testing was conducted on the track and also on the street. The Corsair performs near perfect at triple digit speeds and is very well mannered. No bobble or headshake at any speed. Wind noise on the track is what can be expected, but ear plugs should be worn at track speeds. Air flow is exceptional on the track and it also does very well at 55mph on the street. All of our testers were familiar with Arai helmets and reported the Corsair is exactly what they expected. Top notch comfort and performance.

Visor changes on the Arai RX7 Corsair are simple once you learn how to do it. We’d suggest reading the manual carefully or watching the visor removal video on Arai’s website. It truly is simple, but the first time can be a daunting task. It is all about the “feel”.

The visor incorporates “brow vents”, which add to the overall venting level of the helmet. They work well and once again can be operated while wearing gloves. The replaceable face shields are optically correct and we couldn’t detect any problems in any of the visors, including mirrored versions.

Overall, the Arai RX-7 Corsair has just about everything you could ever want in a helmet. It’s comfort is legendary, ventilation is among the best, countless features and perhaps the best attention to detail when it comes to overall construction. It is no surprise that the Corsair is often chosen by professional riders. The RX-7 Corsair is one of the most expensive helmets available, but Arai has packed a lot into this model. Sometimes you just can’t put a price on quality.
