Scorpion has officially released their EXO-100 half helmet! We have become accustomed to Scorpion coming up with great helmet designs and the EXO-100 looks to be no different. We put the brand new Scorpion EXO-100 through our evaluation process and it looks to be a winner.
Fit
The EXO-100 is an excellent fitting helmet. It sits low on the head and doesn’t look like a mushroom while you are wearing it. Scorpion uses the exact same moisture wicking padding found in the EXO-400/700 and we find it to be very plush. The design of the removable liner allows it to really mold well to your head giving the rider a great fit. We have tested dozens of half helmets and this might be one of the best in terms of fit.
Internal Retractable Sun Shade
Scorpion includes an anti-fog internal retractable sunshade inside of the EXO-100. When you want to use the built-in visor, you simply press a small tab that is exposed in the corner and the visor drops down giving you instant protection from the sun. The internal sunshade is optically perfect and does a great job cutting the suns rays. When you no longer need the shade, simply push it up and it locks itself safely away until you need it again. The stock internal visor is light smoke, but there are several optional versions available, (Clear, Yellow, Blue and Light Smoke). The internal visor are very easy to change. Press the tab and it pops out of the track. Line the next visor up and click it in place. A very easy to operate system. And last but not least, the peak visor is also removable to give you another cosmetic option.
Removable Neck Curtain
The neck curtain of the EXO-100 is easily removable. This allows for more comfort choices. In the winter you can leave it installed to keep you warm or you can remove it in the summer to get more cooling. There are also dedicated pockets intended for mounting speakers for music or communications.
Misc.
Scorpion also thought about safety and includes a reflective material on the side of the ear flaps that glow when they are hit by light. The EXO-100 uses a standard D-Ring chin strap with a snap to secure the excess strap to eliminate it from flapping in the wind.
Conclusion
The Scorpion EXO-100 is a fantastic helmet and our staff and customers alike are very impressed with it. It is one of the best fitting models we have seen in terms of comfort and how it sits on your head. The internal retractable sunshade is the big draw for this helmet. It looks to be well-designed and operated flawlessly during our testing. We like the ability to swap the visors out so easily and overall we just think it was about time a manufacturer did something like this on a half helmet. The EXO-100 is going to be one of the most popular half helmets on the road in the years to come.
