The Zox Alto is a basic half style helmet that looks sharp, sits low on the head and is affordable. It is also D.O.T rated so you will be legal in any state that requires helmet use.
Zox has constructed the EPS foam liner as thin as possible and it still meets or exceeds D.O.T safety standards. The shell is contructed from figerglass rather than plastic. It comes standard with adjustable forehead vents that actually do a pretty good job of keeping your head cool. The vents are easy to operate even while wearing riding gloves.
The Zox Alto also comes eqipped with a removable 3 snap peak styled visor. The visor is securely connected and it does not rattle in the wind as some half helmet visors do. It blocks the sun and when removed it allows use of a flip-up style universal 3 snap visor such as the HJC Hydron visor.
The Alto fits rather nicely too. A lot of half helmets make you look like you are wearing a mushroom on top your head, but the Alto sits low and looks "just right". It is a moderate shell shape and will fit a wide variety of headshapes. The internal comfort padding is better than most helmets in this price range too. The Alto uses the standard D-Ring connectors and also features a chin strap take-up which is very important.
Overall the Zox is a nice helmet for the price. Yes, there are nicer helmets available that offer more features, but the size and the price also increase. The Zox Alto is great for anyone looking for a quality D.O.T half helmet that sits low with a price to match.
