The AGV Dragon is one of the most unique open face helmets we have seen. It looks identical to a military-style helicopter helmet and that is certainly a lot of the appeal. The Dragon is more than skin deep and provides a lot of value with even more style.
The Dragon features a plush liner that feels very good on your head. There is plenty of internal padding that helps provide a solid and comfortable fit. The overall fit is moderately round which is common with most AGV helmets. We have a few testers with oval-shaped heads and most of them were also able to get an acceptable fit as well.
The Dragon comes with (2) visors in the box. One is clear and the other is dark smoke. The dark smoke is great on bright days as the tint is one of the darkest we have seen. We expected to see some distortion in the visor due to it’s shape, but none of our testers notices any issues. The visors are not anti-fog, treated, but they are anti-scratch coated. We never had any fogging issues with the Dragon and that is probably due to the shape of the visor.
The visor is very easy to change as well. While not a tool-less system, it might as well be. All it requires is a twist of a flat blade screwdriver or a coin will work in a pinch. Remove the visor and screw the replacement visor in. Visor changes only take about 30 seconds.
We definitely like the retention system of the Dragon. It is easy to operate with one finger and eliminates any confusion with D-rings. It works just like a seat belt.
The Dragon is certainly a unique helmet. It looks right at home on any café racer or cruiser. If you are out riding your AGV Dragon, get used to people asking if you are a fighter pilot.
